Name one person who has had an impact on your life and explain why:
The person who has had the most impact on my life is my son; he is my reason for doing everything that I do. As a single parent, it’s not always easy, but when I look at his face, it reassures me that the struggle is worth it.

How did you become interested in becoming a massage therapist?
Being a molecular cytogeneticist in the field of oncology for many years, I have seen the devastation cancer can cause to the body. Being a massage therapist would give me the opportunity to help comfort those people as they go through their transitions.

What led you to choose your Central Maryland School of Massage as your massage therapy school?
CMSM came highly recommended to me by a good friend, who is also an alumni. Although my plan was to check out all the schools in the area, CMSM was the first and only campus visit. I felt at home as soon as I entered the doors.

What is your favorite thing about school and why?
My favorite thing about school is the daily massage. Prior to coming to CMSM, I’d had about three massages in my life. After receiving my first week of daily massages, I realized how much I really need them.

Name one thing you cannot live without:
I cannot live without music; it keeps me sane in this sometimes crazy world we live in.

Name one country you would love to visit:
I would love to visit France. . . such a beautiful place.

Are you a dog or cat person? Or both or neither?
I am a cat person. I’ve had cats as long as I can remember, and as I think about it, that may be where my talent for massage therapy began. I could rub on my cats for hours on end and they would love it.

State three adjectives that describe you:
Although I would describe myself as quiet, shy, and introverted, people have told me that I’m very tenacious, nurturing, and dedicated.

What is your go-to song when you need to get motivated?
My go-to song when I need to get motivated is “Happy” by Ferrell. That really says it all.

What are your plans after graduating from massage therapy school?
After graduating from massage therapy school, and after a bit more continuing ed, my goal is to provide palliative care to as many oncology and elderly patients I can reach. Being touched makes us feel so much better, even if only for a moment.
