Amanda is a student in the Part-Time Morning Program at the Finger Lakes School of Massage Ithaca campus. She was chosen as the October Student of the Month because of her hard work and commitment to becoming an exceptional massage therapist.
How did you become interested in becoming a massage therapist?
Energy work was and is something I have been curious about since I was much younger. I also think alternative medicine and health care has a significant place in today’s world. Also, there are so many opportunities for massage therapists depending on how they want to grow.
What led you to choose Finger Lakes School of Massage as your massage therapy school?
I have known several past students who have all said FLSM was challenging, rewarding and life changing. It wasn’t a difficult choice to make!
What is your favorite thing about FLSM and why?
Every day is different. With that, there’s always new challenges and another opportunity to grow. I thrive off of that.
Name one thing you cannot live without:
A support system. The special people (and pets) I have in my life play a huge role in my motivation and determination to keep moving forward.
Name one country you would love to visit:
Iceland!
Are you a dog or cat person? Or both or neither?
I love all creatures! But since I have to choose between dogs and cats, I choose both. I have 2 dogs and a cat.

What are your plans after graduating from massage therapy school?
To work part-time from home and/or for a business. I’ll take whatever opportunity I can get!
