It is Elana O’Hara’s last month at CMSM. She has been chosen as our Student of the Month for November due to her exemplary scholarship as a student! Learn more about her and her motivations below. Congratulations, Elana!
Name one person who has had an impact on your life and explain why.
My husband, Thomas. He has helped me grow as a person in so many ways. Most importantly, he has taught me how to love myself, which is something that I have never been able to do.
How did you become interested in becoming a massage therapist?
I have been in the medical field my entire life. I wanted to find a way to help people other than being a nursing assistant. I wanted to be able to help people heal in a more holistic way, mentally and physically
What led you to choose Central Maryland School of Massage as your massage therapy school?
We lived in Cambridge, MD when I became interested in massage and the closest school was an hour and a half away. When we moved back to Frederick before our wedding, I found out there was a massage school in in Frederick, so I went ahead and applied!
I also know a lot of people that have graduated from CMSM, so I asked how they liked it. THey all had nothing but great things to say about the program.
Name one thing you cannot live without.
Coffee or tea!!!! Ya’ll have seen my huge thermos!
Name one country you would love to visit.
I would love to visit Italy! We wanted to go there for our honeymoon, but our bank account said “nah.”
Are you a dog or cat person? Or both or neither?
100% Both!!! All pets matter!!

Energetic, empathetic, and outgoing.
What is your go-to song when you need to get motivated?
Absolutely – This Is How We Do It – Montell Jordan, with any song by Beyonce as a close second.
What are your plans after graduating from massage therapy school?
I will most likely stay at my current data entry job and massage people that I know on the weekend until we save up enough to buy a house in September. After that, I’ll hopefully have a space on our property to practice massage full-time. The possibilities are endless!!!
